Giving Back: The Wayne County Community Foundation

Established in 1978, the Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF) is a non-profit organization backed by the generosity and support of the community. Since its formation, the organization has awarded over $94.5 million in grants and scholarships from its 485 separate funds, and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon. 1“Who We Are”, n.d In May of 2021, the WCCF’s Board of Trustees awarded over $250,000 in grants to ten different organizations within Wayne County, from local health organizations to supporting local youth endeavors. 2“Wayne County Community Foundation Presents $251K in Spring Grants”, 2021” These grants serve diverse needs, aiming to develop educational, recreational, and business sectors, as well as supporting health services and providers. The Wayne County Community Foundation’s funds are supplied by donations from individuals, families, and businesses, and the organization is always accepting donations for the betterment of Wayne County’s community.
